Uni of Groningen takes FIRST place

There’s some big news about the University of Groningen these days,
and there’s a lot of chatter around it too. The results of the
International Student Barometer, a world-wide survey aimed at looking
at satisfaction levels of international students in universities around the globe,
for this year are out and guess what..? Our university, the University of Groningen,
has secured the first place for the best university in the Netherlands!
You may or may not remember filling out this survey a few months ago, but whatever responses you put in helped give RuG the first place. This questionnaire was sent to students around the world who were enrolled at a university outside their home country, asking them to comment on their satisfaction with teaching quality, accommodation, support and facilities. Twelve institutions from the Netherlands participated, and theUniversity of Groningen came out on top as the best university, judged by international students. It also took first place as the institute that internationals would recommend to their friends back home, making this the third consecutive year that RuG has won in this category.
This is something that we should be extremely proud of – both international as well as Dutch students, and all staff members too. We know that Dutch education is of very high standards. So, the decision of an international to come and study in the Netherlands should not so perplexing for anyone. Possibly the question I have been asked the most frequently in the last couple of years has been, ‘Why did you choose to come and study in the Netherlands, and then in Groningen of all places?’. I can probably narrate the entire story to you if we meet in person some time but to answer this in one short sentence right now I’d say, ‘I did my homework very well’. At the end of the day, we’re living in a great place and studying at a terrific university. For me, it’s been the best decision of my life.
